When this website is accessed, technically necessary data is processed in order to provide the website and to ensure the security and stability of the service.

The processing is carried out for the technical delivery of the website and to ensure security and stability.

4. Hosting

This website is provided via Firebase Hosting. Firebase Hosting is a hosting service by Google for the fast and secure delivery of web content via a content delivery network (CDN).

As part of the hosting, it is technically necessary for connection and access data to be processed in order to deliver the website and maintain operations.

5. Reach Measurement with Simple Analytics

This website uses Simple Analytics for privacy-friendly reach measurement.

Simple Analytics is used on this website exclusively to record page views. No user accounts are maintained, no profiles are created, and no additional event-tracking functions are used.

According to Simple Analytics, the service operates without cookies, without storing IP addresses, and without cross-device tracking. The processing serves exclusively to provide aggregated reach statistics for this website.

A contact form is available on this website through which inquiries, feedback, bug reports, and feature requests can be submitted.

7.1 Processed Data

When using the contact form, the data you enter is processed.

7.2 Purpose of Processing

The processing is carried out exclusively for the purpose of receiving, handling, and responding to your inquiry.

Legal basis:

  • Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR, insofar as your inquiry is related to pre-contractual or contractual communication
  • Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR for other inquiries

Legitimate interest: efficient handling of inquiries and a user-friendly contact option via the website

7.3 Technical Processing and Transmission

The contact form sends the entered content to a Firebase Cloud Function. From there, the message is forwarded via SMTP to the email inbox specified in Section 1.

The form content is not stored in a web database, in particular not in Firestore or a comparable database. Actual retention begins only once the message has been received in the receiving email inbox.

Spacemail by Spaceship is used as the mail service for email receipt and the technical sending of emails.

7.4 Spam Protection and Abuse Prevention

To protect the contact form against misuse and automated requests, data-minimizing technical protection measures are used. These include in particular:

  • a hidden honeypot field
  • a signed short-lived token with an expiry time
  • a minimum time between token issuance and submission
  • server-side checks of length, format, and inconspicuous content
  • verification of origin and referrer headers
  • temporary throttling via a secret-salted hash of the IP address

As part of these protection measures, technically necessary additional data may be processed, in particular a short-lived token for form verification, a hashed user agent within the token, origin/referrer headers, and an IP address processed only temporarily in hashed form for server-side throttling.

No permanent storage of raw IP addresses takes place for the contact form. Likewise, no content logging of the message takes place in server logs.

7.5 No External CAPTCHA Service

No external CAPTCHA or challenge service such as reCAPTCHA, hCaptcha, or Cloudflare Turnstile is integrated in the browser for spam protection.

7.6 Storage Period

The content submitted via the contact form is stored only for as long as necessary to process the inquiry.

General feedback and feature requests are generally deleted no later than three months after final handling.

Bug reports may be stored until the final resolution of the reported matter and are then generally deleted within three months.

Where statutory retention obligations apply, storage to the required extent remains unaffected.

8. Contact by Email

If you contact me directly by email, the data you provide, in particular your email address and the content of your message, will be processed for the purpose of handling your inquiry.

Legal basis:

  • Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR, insofar as the contact is related to a pre-contractual or contractual inquiry
  • Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR for other inquiries

Legitimate interest: handling inquiries and communicating with users

The data is deleted as soon as the respective inquiry has been conclusively handled and no statutory retention obligations prevent deletion.

9. Information on the “LingPO Desk” Desktop App

“LingPO Desk” is a local desktop application. According to the current state of development, the app processes files locally on the user’s device.

At present, there are no user accounts, no server-side synchronization, no telemetry, no crash reports, and no cloud functions.

When using the app, locally selected translation files may be processed, in particular for opening, comparing, editing, and saving PO files. This processing takes place exclusively locally on the user’s device.

According to the current state of development, no personal usage data is transmitted to me by the app.

This website contains links to external pages on GitHub, in particular to release download pages.

These are ordinary external links. Accordingly, data is not transmitted to GitHub merely by displaying the link on this website, but only if you actively click the link and thereby access the GitHub page.

The respective provider is solely responsible for data processing on the external pages. The respective privacy policies applicable there shall apply.

11. Recipients of Personal Data

Personal data may be disclosed to technical service providers insofar as this is necessary for the provision of this website or for handling contact inquiries. This includes in particular the hosting provider, the underlying hosting infrastructure, technical functions for the contact form, and the mail service provider used.

Insofar as Simple Analytics is integrated, this service provider may also process technical access information as part of reach measurement.

12. Storage Period

Personal data is stored only for as long as necessary for the respective purposes or as long as statutory retention obligations exist.

13. Your Rights

Within the scope of the applicable legal provisions, you have in particular the right:

  • to obtain information about your stored personal data,
  • to have inaccurate data rectified,
  • to have personal data erased,
  • to restriction of processing,
  • to object to processing,
  • to data portability, insofar as the legal requirements are met,
  • to revoke any consent given at any time with effect for the future.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority.

14. Changes to This Privacy Policy

I reserve the right to amend this privacy policy if this website, the app, or the legal requirements change.
